Data week: Oct 26 – Nov 1, 2026
The shortage isn’t ending — it’s rotating. Automotive analog is the new tight spot, AI servers are now gated by CPUs and power management, and memory runs at two speeds.
Last week in three signals
- Automotive analog tightens and broadens. Last week we flagged automotive-qualified power as the fastest-growing group. This week the signal widened to automotive LED lighting drivers, automotive LDOs, CAN and isolated interfaces, and camera/display SerDes. Search demand and open-market demand point the same way, with open-market demand in these categories running 3–9× above the prior 12-week average. Of the 16 most active automotive parts we checked with authorized distributors, 11 showed zero stock, with quoted lead times of 20–26 weeks.
- AI servers are gated by more than GPUs. TrendForce’s late-September update put server CPU lead times at 25–30 weeks, against 16–20 weeks in a balanced market. TrendForce has also flagged long lead times for server PMICs. Searches for digital power controllers rose about 30% last week.
- Memory runs at two speeds. DDR5 keeps climbing: DRAMeXchange spot for DDR5 16Gb rose about 6% over 30 days to Oct 30. DDR4 spot has plateaued at record levels while DDR4 contract prices set a new high in October. Legacy DDR3 and small-capacity eMMC quotes are off their Q3 highs.
What it means for sourcing this week
- Automotive analog: check 2027 H1 coverage on LED drivers, automotive LDOs, CAN/isolated interfaces and SerDes now, and qualify second sources before the next allocation round.
- AI server builds: plan server CPUs and power-management parts to allocation; don’t count on spot buys to close gaps.
- DDR5 and enterprise SSD: lock 2027 volumes early.
- DDR4: spot is flat but expensive, so cover confirmed demand only and watch contract resets.
- Legacy memory: buy DDR3/eMMC to need only; don’t chase Q3 prices.
- If you hold excess automotive analog or DDR4/DDR5, this is a strong window to release it.
